Outdoor and Indoor Exercises for Dogs
Exercises for dogs are very important either an outdoor or indoor. If your dog lacks exercises he might lead to some tremendous emotional and physical disorders. There are different exercises available for your dogs. With the proper and adequate exercises, the dog is able to learn good manners, avoid annoying and unwanted behaviors like excessive barking, digging and chewing, and rest calmly on its own because it helps dogs to separate form anxiety.
Basically, there are two kinds of exercises for dogs, the outdoor and the indoor exercise. For outdoor exercises, dogs need sustain and vigorous activities. This may apply to any breed and size of the dog however the amount of exercise to be oriented on your dog must vary accordingly on his individual differences, age, size and breed. Larger breeds, sporting breeds, working breeds, and herding breeds require plenty of outdoor exercises because these breeds are brought up to work and do activities. Meanwhile younger breeds of dogs may also require more exercises. For geriatric dogs, regular exercises are most recommended but with gradual and moderate amounts. Here are some of the recommended outdoor exercises for your dogs:

- Dog Obedience Training/Classes – this is recommended for dogs as form of outdoor exercise since it got to offer fitness and group obedience classes where they can socialize with other dogs in a competitive environment. In this way, dogs will be much stronger not only on physical aspect but mental aspect as well. These classes can also make your dog happy and fit as they enjoy the whole proceedings.
- Treadmill Exercises – dog treadmills are created specially for dogs to exercise
- Swimming Exercises (retrieving from the water) – this form of outdoor exercise for dogs is good and enjoyable for the dogs
- Retrieving Exercises – this form of outdoor exercises for dogs is would be easier for the owners since it only consists of throwing the ball or toy afar while the dog catches or fetches it. However, this outdoor exercise may cause serious knee injuries for dogs because of awkward landing
- Trotting Exercises – this form of outdoor exercise is not recommended for older or ill-health dogs. Since trotting is a cycle, dogs should be in average condition
- Exploring – this can be a great form of outdoor exercise for your dog. You can occasionally visit friends and local market with your dog. Inventing some new routes as part of the exploring exercise can also be great
- Walking with your dog – when walking with your dog, don’t make it a boring day for him. You can try making your walk interesting such as letting your dog hold his favorite toy, ball or stick. While walking, you can let him do some little galloping or jumping
For indoor exercises of your dog, you don’t need to have a big garden or surface in the house. You can do all these exercises even in small indoor areas. Here are some of the best indoor or alternative exercises that you can orient your dog on:

- Climbing the stairs
- Go after your dog while he holds a soft toy or a stick. As your dog go around while going after him there would be an enough exercise
- Try testing the intelligence of your dog by doing turnover of his favorite treat over a bowl or small drum. This can be fun.
- Try testing the concentration of your dog by placing his favorite treats inside a bucket full of unwanted things or rolled up towels.
- Hide and seek
